This stone is hugely popular at the moment; the fascinating optical effects combined with the still reasonable price and the fact that it works especially well with silver have cemented its appeal. It has an almost magical appearance; the milkiness of the stone enlivened by the bluish shimmer that dances across the surface when it catches the light. It's the light reflecting off the layers and inclusions that creates the optical effects, but some moonstone is more inclusion than schiller! This material, on the other hand, has lots and lots of flash, the colours a pleasing mix of blue and lavender.
I currently carry this in two grades; a high grade which is pretty clean with a spectacular blue flash, and a medium grade. The medium grade is cloudier with more cracks and inclusions, and the flash, whilst still very good, is not so fine as the high grade.
