Moonstone - Grey, White & Peach

Moonstone is so well named; the translucent material with the floating schiller looks so ethereal, as if it is lit from within.  It comes in a variety of colours and qualities, (and I have the universally popular rainbow moonstone listed in a separate category) all of which promise some kind of fascinating optical effect.  Moonstone was traditionally thought to be a good luck stone and an arouser of passions and was often offered as a gift between lovers.  Here I have silver grey, white and peach moonstone, all with a strong schiller and pronounced cat's eye.

Beautiful silver-grey moonstone.  The colour is a subtle shade of smokey greyish-blue and makes me think more than anything else of Russian Blue cats; a silver with a good dose of blue in it. Added to that is the pale silver schiller and the pronounced cat's-eye that shimmers across the stones when they catch the light.  Good clean cut, excellent polish, this is nice quality material. I'm told that this is very popular in Spain at the moment, and I can certainly see these looking very cool and sophisticated in silver jewellery.
