As the GIA points out, Tsavorite garnet is proof positive that not all garnets are inexpensive, plentiful and red. Tsavorite, a form of grossularite garnet, is probably one of the most important and valuable forms of garnet, along with Demantoid. An excellent alternative to emerald as it is cleaner, brighter, and easier to match, it is a fantastic and vibrant grass green colour. Bluish green to bright green are the most valuable colours with yellowish-green less so. But this is a beautiful stone in its own right, and a good option for anyone who is interested in using untreated stones, as it's almost never treated.
